Should Christians Listen to Hillsong, Bethel, Jesus Culture Band, or Elevation Music?

Satan has infiltrated Christian music. While these churches preach the gospel of Christ, they also teach faulty Biblical exegesis. For example, Bethel’s grave soaking or gold dust phenomenon is not scripture-based.

Although Hillsong’s statements of faith line up with the core tenets of Christianity, its leadership scandals come to question the kind of Christian norm they have.

Like Hillsong music, Elevation and Jesus Culture Band has prosperity gospel written all over it. ‘A monotonous cycle of theological platitudes that misrepresent the decretive will of God.’

Although Hillsong is riddled with scandals, repentance will bring the church healing. However, Bethel Church is outright demonic, says apologist Justin Peters.

Are the lyrics mostly about us or all about God’s glory?

The lure of melody is difficult to resist. Hillsong makes beautiful and worshipful songs. But remember, Satan was a cherub; he knows music.

God calls us to higher form worship, in spirit, and in truth. (Romans 12:1; John 4:24)

The heart of worship is not the gift, but the giver

Matt Redman, who’s likewise accused of “institutional church worship,” puts it right when he said, the heart of worship is Jesus.

Today, few artists like Fernando Ortega compose songs entirely pointing to God’s majesty. When singing praise and worship, consider the following Bible verses on worship.

  • Come and worship God with singing! (Psalm 100:2–3)
  • We must sing praises to God for what he has done. (1 Samuel 12:24)
  • Worship God in spirit and truth (John 4:24)
  • Offering our bodies as a “living sacrifice” is the ultimate act of worship. (Romans 12:1)
