Refusing to do chores?
Daily chores help kids learn to be responsible. On Saturdays, my kids help clean the house and do a little laundry. On weekdays, each one is assigned to wash the dishes, once a week. The rest of the days, they wash their own. Sometimes we ask them to do extra and most of the time, they refuse. Instead of forcing them, a quick Bible verse works better.
1. God is pleased
Colossians 3:20-21 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so they won’t become discouraged.
2. God promises to bless you
Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents as you would the Lord because this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land
3. Blessings will come
Deuteronomy 28:2 All these blessings will come and overtake you, because you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. Your descendants will be blessed, and your land’s produce, and the offspring of your livestock, including the young of your herds and the newborn of your flocks. Your basket and kneading bowl will be blessed.
4. Do good to others
Luke 6:31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.
5. Do it for the LORD
Colossians 3:24 Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.
